Kids who are into filmmaking – especially now that most of them have smartphones with cameras – can join the New York Film Academy film summer camp. They also provide acting, game design and animation summer camps for kids aged 10-13. At the 3D Animation camp, for example, kids learn the basics using Disney’s 12 principles of animation then apply these principles using 3D Maya, the industry-standard software for modeling and animation under caring supervision from instructors. There are one-week and two-week camps during the weekdays in the summer. These are day camps as there are no dorm facilities for the younger ones, so perhaps if you live far away organize a central location with relatives or friends for the duration of the course.
