Memorial Day Weekend is officially the start of the summer season as beaches and parks across New York State open up and welcome visitors once again. It’s time to get out, enjoy what New York has to offer and make it a summer for the kids to remember. All NYC beaches open to the public have lifeguards from 10am to 6 pm in summer. Text BEACH to 877 877 for information on opening and closing times and water quality information. While there are loads of beaches and parks we have selected those with special activities for kids and kid-friendly beaches.
The beach is small, tranquil and has views of the Manhattan Bridge and it is accessible with baby buggies and also has wheelchair access. Previously it had no lifeguards and restrooms but since 2010 that has changed and it is becoming popular as there is no charge to get onto the sand. It is regarded as one of the cleaner beaches, making it popular with families.
