Fond of strawberries, then be sure to participate in the strawberry harvest that is sponsored by Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary. Get messy by digging in the dirt with the farm staff, meet some berry-loving animals, and harvest berries to take some home while supplies last this incurs an additional fee. Throughout the day, kids can enjoy wildlife demonstrations and learn about strawberry pollinators. Take a walk to the colorful fields and enjoy the day with nature. Kids of all ages can step in for free.

Grand Parade of Sail

The Tall Ships are coming back again to Boston this time the Grand Parade of Sail launches a five-day nautical themed celebration centering educational, cultural, interactive, and re-enactment events and activities as well as free public boarding of the ships. The parade features the day’s activities as the vessels parade in flotillas from Broad Sound into the main channel of Boston Harbor turning at Charlestown, before proceeding to their assigned berthing areas. The view of the parade is breath taking from Castle Island, the Seaport District, the Boston Waterfront, East Boston, the North End, and Charlestown. Children of all ages can enjoy the parade, and it is free.

Nantucket Book Festival

The Nantucket Book Festival is presenting about 25 award-winning authors, including some very popular authors who are favorites for children, middle readers, and young adults. On Friday, June 16th, they host children’s story time in 7 languages underneath the tent in the garden of the Nantucket Atheneum, it is sure to keep your kids engaged and Wendy Rouillard hosts Barnaby Bear story times at Nantucket Bookworks on Saturday, June 17. Kids of the 2 and up are welcome. Most of the events are free, and all are open to the public.
