CANstruction – Competition and Food Drive

This is an extraordinary annual design competition and the most exceptional food charity in the world, Canstruction confronts 26 teams of architects, engineers, and contractors to build sculptures made from unopened cans of food. The large scale structures are featured here and are later donated to City Harvest for distribution to people in need. Awards will be given to the following categories: Best Original Design, Structural Ingenuity, Best Meal, Most Cans, People’s Choice, Cheri C. Melillo Award, Best Use of Labels, and Honorable Mention. The admission is free; if you wish to contribute to Canstruction you can drop off non-perishable food items in the bin located at 230 Vesey, 2nd level as donation. Kids of all ages are welcome, the admission is free.

The 25th annual Canstruction competition and food drive is back at Brookfield Place New York, 230 Vesey Street, New York 10821 from November 2nd, 2017 to November 5th, 2017 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Elise Peterson: Art Sundae

Elise Peterson is a multitalented person who is an artist, writer, and educator she lives and works in New York. The ‘Dream House’ public art project is ignited by and celebrates the imagination of children. They provide the necessary materials such as paint and markers, the youth are given an opportunity to turn an ordinary playhouse into a colorful house showcasing visuals memories of their dreams. The event is ideal for kids of the age 2-8. The admission is free for all.

Rose and Rex Toy Pop Up Shop

Rose and Rex has created an impressive Toy Pop Up Shop at Kidville that is so attractive, it draws the crowd so quick. On the Upper East Side, they have loaded an assortment of kids’ favorite colorful toys and special gifts for babies, toddlers and big kids. These are toys that spark the creativity, toy here are hand-picked by teachers to encourage imaginative play, as each toy helps cultivate fundamental cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills. Designed to encourage open-ended play and foster well-rounded development by emphasizing active engagement over passive entertainment. The entry is absolutely free.
