Sea Otter Awareness Week

As part of this special week set aside to raise the profile of sea otters, the aquarium will provide visitors with the chance to get an inside look at this endangered species. Families can come here to visit the Exploration Center, where they will have a fully articulated sea otter skeleton on display all week. Kids will be excited to find out what a sea otter eats. There will be lots of specimens on display. There will also be a pelt on display showcasing the sea otter’s thick fur. Stop by at aquarium during Sea Otter Awareness Week and learn more about their insides and outsides, their important role in California’s kelp forest ecosystem, the animals they eat and other fascinating sea otter facts. Included with Admission, admission will cost $5 for adults and $1 for children and seniors.

Superhero and Princess Academy

It’s time to dust off the backpacks, break out the school supplies and head back to the Academy for more Superhero and Princesses fun. At this academy learn more about saving the world, superhero-posing, royal dancing and of course glitter as they prepare for the first day of class back at the Academy. But when a villain shows up to teach the first class the students suspect foul play and decide to go in search for their real teacher, a superhero. As the students dig deeper into the mystery, they discover more clues to where all the real teachers are and how the villains have secretly taken over the school during summer break. The Superheroes and Princesses will need your help to restore order back at the Academy. With lots of singing, dancing and immersive-interaction this fun Creating Arts Company signature mini-musical is 60 minutes worth of fun that the adults will love just as much as the kids. This show is recommended for ages 3 and up. Ticket price will range from $18 to $32 and free for children under 2.

Checkmate! Chess at the Museum

Drop-in by the Museum’s Sculpture Garden and challenge a friend to a game of chess. Not a chess master, don’t worry, you can learn the rules of the game from U.S. chess expert Jay Stallings. Jay Stallings has been teaching chess to students from kindergarten to high school for more than two decades. Space and chess sets are limited, no reservations are taken. This program is suitable for all ages and free with admission. Free with admission, admission will cost $12 for adults, free for children (ages 18 and under).

Arcadia Moon Festival

The traditional Chinese celebration takes place when the full moon is at its brightest for the year. The unique cultural experience offers Chinese music, martial arts, dance performances and more. Bring family and friends, a picnic, blankets and lawn chairs for a very special evening in the garden. There will be live Performances, Lion Dance, Audience participation of Tai Chi with Master Arnold Chien, Chinese Drumming, Peacock and other dances, traditional music by the Chinese Orchestra. Food Trucks will be selling Korean fusion chicken wing, chicken strips, pork belly sliders, and fried rice, Mandoline Grill, Vietnamese fusion, burgers, specialty fries, wraps, healthy options. The Peacock Café will be offering Moon Cakes, soft tacos, street nachos. Tickets purchased prior to the event will cost $10, $5 for children 12 and older and free for children under 11. Tickets purchased at the door will cost $14, $8 for children 12 and older, and free for children under 11.
