Dia de los Muertos

East End Studio Gallery and The Greater East End Management District presents Día de Muertos on the Navigation Esplanade. Día de Muertos focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember loved ones who have passed on. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts. They also leave possessions of the deceased. Scholars trace the origins of the modern Mexican holiday to indigenous observances dating back hundreds of years and to an Aztec festival dedicated to the goddess Mictecacihuatl. This family-friendly 2-day event will feature local vendors, food trucks, art, and more.

Friday, November 10th, 2017 at 5:00 pm at Navigation Esplanade, 2600 Navigation Boulevard, Houston.
