Chances are – you’re one of those people who love to snuggle up into a soft, warm quilt and sip some coffee after a long day of work, right? Cozy up at the International Quilt Festival at George R. Brown Convention Center and sign up for classes or just stop in and browse the quilts on display! This is definitely a quilter’s paradise, and is even enjoyable for those who just love looking at these intricately woven pieces of art. Tickets are $12.00 per person.

Dia de los Muertos Celebration

Celebrate Latin American customs that surround the Day of the Dead with fun, interactive, and commemorative activities at the National Museum of Funeral History. The National Museum of Funeral History hosts a Dia de los Muertos celebration with activities that commemorate the lives of those who have passed. Check out authentic altars created by local artists, commemorate your loved one by leaving them a message in the “Book of the Dead” and enjoy parent-supervised activities for the kids. This event is included with general admission to the museum. Tickets to the museum are $10.00 for adults; $7.00 for kids ages 6 to 11 and free for kids under the age of 5.

Orbit Slams

Learn how to write and perform original poetry at this WITS writing workshop and poetry slams for youths ages thirteen to nineteen. Encourage your kids to stimulate their creative side and let the words flow! Share your work with friends and grow as a poet during this awesome workshop. This event is free to attend.
