Seeing live reindeer, meeting Santa and enjoying train rides, wagon rides, and lots of light displays are top of kids’ priority lists. Fortunately Houston markets manage to mix kid-friendly activities with shopping, and German festivities give many of the markets a distinctly European feel. Also there are markets within some of the light shows, which will make kids very happy!
About: This German style festival has four music stages, around 200 street vendors, ethnic and festival food, beer, and wine. Adding to the fun will be street performers doing tricks, playing music and even Santa will be visiting along with Ghillie the Elf. A petting zoo and plenty of Christmas ornaments, arts and crafts, antiques, and a heritage center round out the offerings at this event. Polka bands, traditional dance groups and bluegrass music bands are all lined up for the three-day event. And, no you do not have to be German to attend – everyone is welcome!
