These days with the emphasis on safety for kids street parades have fallen out of fashion and events tend to be concentrated in parks and other gated places where access can be controlled. We rounded up the best activities for the Halloween weekend coming up. Enjoy the Halloween season.
If it’s a street parade you are after then this is it – with the unexpected adventure of following ten professionally decorated floats with their costumed participants on their two laps around the River Walk starting from the International Building, traveling through the downtown area and ending at the Arneson River Theatre. This is a family-friendly event with live music, the float procession, costume contest and food and drink. The costume contest is for adults only, but the kids can dress up even though they aren’t competing and enjoy the trick or treating – candy is more important in a kid’s eyes anyway! Local bars and restaurants will still be open once the event ends to keep the Halloween spirit going.
When: Friday, October 28th, 2017 from 6 pm to 9:30 pm.
Cost: Free to watch the floats. Food and drinks to be purchased.
