3. Swanton’s Berry Farm

There are benches outside where you can relax and tuck into your fresh picked strawberries, or perhaps their strawberry shortcake – crisp biscuit with strawberry filling and fresh country cream to top it off. There are also a number of strawberry products to get your taste buds doing a tap dance of delight – strawberry jam made in small batches, decadent tarts, desserts and preserves all redolent of the sun-ripened fruit that mass-produced products simply cannot compete with. This farm does organic in the right way – sweet fruit with quality flavor due to methods that are just a little different – visit to find out more from the staff.

4. Gizdich Ranch

After the fruit picking in the sunshine (remember to take a hat and sunscreen), stop off and test their pies – they advertise there’re the best this side of the Rockies. Load up with some fresh berry jams and their award-winning apple juice. Besides the strawberries, they have Olallieberries (a cross between a youngberry and a blackberry, which in turn were crosses – so basically a load of delicious berriness in one! They also have boysenberries and apples. You can bring your own containers or buy boxes at the ranch for a fee.
