There is certainly lots going on in Phoenix and surrounds this Thanksgiving for a truly different experience. Yes, there are the Turkey Trots and parades and lights in town but it’s the chance to get out into areas outside of Phoenix where events like a junior rodeo, the Southwest Art and Indian festival and re-enactments of the American Revolution and Civil War are happening that will have kids talking non-stop.
There is a one-mile gobbler dash for parents and kids aged 12 and under where you can run jog or walk to the finish line. The Tot Trot is 25-50 yards for kids six and under. When kids have finished their races they can go to the Kid Zone for art and craft activities, face painting, balloon artists and turkey hats. There are quite a few categories in the costume contest – from best-dressed turkey, most creative outfit, best-dressed family, best-dressed couple and best-dressed team. For the fitness buffs, there are 5k and 10k runs.
