March is a fairly quiet month in San Antonio as everyone gathers their resources for fiesta month in April when the city explodes with activities! However, there are still a number of festivals you won’t want to miss, especially the St Patrick’s Day Parade on the Riverwalk with all its attendant activities. On the concert front, it’s Jason Mraz and Bon Jovi who will be drawing the crowds. A Bubble Run and the Color Vibe are on the event list, as well as the spring opening of places like Six Flags Fiesta, Morgan’s Wonderland, Aquatica at Seaworld and the Adventure Garden. Viva spring!
From 9:00 am to 5:00 pm visitors can see what the Alamo battlefield would have looked like in 1836, when they visit the Long Barrack a participate in the virtual experience. At 10:00 am the Crockett Fiddle Festival is scheduled to start with toe-tapping music to keep you going until 5:30 pm. Renowned fiddlers will be playing for the crowds and food and beverages will be available so the music can be savored along with the meal. The day gets serious between 4:00 and 4:30 pm when a member of the garrison at the Alamo reads historic text describing the events at the Alamo during each day of the siege. After that is time to party with a Fandango from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
