Music and fireworks, sand sculpting and dancing, the fun of a summer carnival and lots more make for an exciting July in Boston and its surrounding areas.
The Oval (that’s the grassy area in front of the DCR Hatch Shell) and Island entrances to the Esplanade are best accessed from Storrow Drive at Clarendon, Berkeley, and Dartmouth Streets. Rachel Platten – best known for her Fight Song is the headliner for the concert; Indigo Girls, Rhiannon Giddens (founder of Carolina Chocolate Drops band) and Rita Moreno and the Boston Pops, conducted by Keith Lockhart complete the lineup. Get there early as the Oval and the Island/Lagoon are secured areas: spectators will be required to pass through one of the bag check/screening entrances and will receive a wristband specifically for that area. Wear it during the event to ensure access in and out of the secured area. When the secured areas are full, NO additional wristbands will be distributed.
When: July 3, concert 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm (no fireworks). July 4, concert 8:00 pm to 10:30 pm, fireworks from 10:30 pm to 11:00 pm (subject to change).
Where: DCR Hatch Shell 47 David G. Mugar Way, Boston, MA 02108, on the Esplanade between the Longfellow and Massachusetts Avenue Bridges, on both the Boston and Cambridge sides of the Charles River.
