The Oriental Institute Museum is the perfect place for a family day out. Visiting the museum is free but you are asked for a suggested donation. It is all about ancient art and culture. There are gallery tours and travel programs. We really recommend you to participate in one of its hands-on workshops and events that are suitable for both children and their families!

Shedd Aquarium is not your typical aquarium. It includes everything you are expecting to see in an aquarium but combines it with a majestic marble building. Its exhibits include local species and others from around the world: Amazon Rising, Caribbean Reef, Polar Play Zone, and others. There are some days during the year where Illinois residents receive free admission.
Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art is, as its name suggests, dedicated to lapidary. For those that do not know, lapidary is the art of transforming a stone, mineral, or gemstone into decorative items. Those visiting will get to know the numerous possibilities it contains. As you visit the Permanent Collection, you will get to appreciate mosaics, dioramas, jade carving, cameos, organic gems, faceted gemstone, rocks, minerals, fossils, and, a vision worth experiencing, the Castle Lizzadro. Admission is free every Friday!

The Elmhurst History Museum was founded in 1957 and is specially dedicated to history, including Elmhurst’s. It presents its visitors with an interactive experience on Elmhurst’s history, several varied exhibits on history-related topics, tours, and special events now and then. There is daily free admission and free parking!

The Naper Settlement dates back to 1863, when it was a Civil War encampment. It is now an outdoor living history museum. It educates its visitors on the changes occurred during the 19th century for its residents. It also includes the Martin Mitchell Mansion, an astonishing 19th-century Victorian mansion. General admission is free for Naperville Residents with proof of residency.
