We have chosen some well priced vegetarian and vegan restaurants that make tasty food rather than the super-upmarket fine dining establishments – after all with a bunch of kids it can get really pricy! Take your pick from vegetarian and vegan spots – some go all out on the plant-based food without disguising plants as meat, and some do pretty good imitations of meat to win over those who are getting used to vegetarian and vegan cuisine. Whatever your choice there will be something to please, leaving you feeling healthy and relaxed knowing animals didn’t have to live in shocking conditions, then be slaughtered for your meal.
Ladybird is a green restaurant – literally! The plush banquettes are a lovely uplifting shade of green and the walls white. Try the Chardonnay and Artichoke Fondue at $38 that serves 2 to 3 people – it’s hard to believe its vegan, as it is deliciously creamy. A platter with various items to dip includes beans, carrots, grapes, and cornichons (tart French pickled mini gherkins), and their tasty fresh bread. The eggplant dish is also good – crispy on the outside and meltingly smooth on the inside. The sourdough bread with avocado and spicy romesco is $12. The vegan strawberry cheesecake is $5 and the chocolate fondue with assorted accouterments is $24 for 2 to 3 people.
