You don’t even have to leave Houston to experience cuisine from far-flung reaches of the globe – South African, Thai, Argentinian, Mexican, Australian – Texas has them all. What they all have in common is good service and good food. Enjoy!
The South African fusion food offered draws from the cuisines of the people of South Africa, including Dutch, Malay, Indian, and Portuguese. Try the Peli Peli curried chicken at $19 served with toasted coconut, mango chutney, and cilantro, or perhaps the Cape Town skillet with tiger prawns, scallops, Peli Peli shrimp, mussels and sautéed calamari on a bed of rice at $46. Winner of various awards, including the Best Romantic Restaurant, Peli Peli, whose name refers to peri peri – the birds eye chili that adds a zing to many of the dishes, offers various spaces from the generously proportioned dining area to private dining, or the patio overlooking the piazza. The LED lighting gives the effect of the progression from sunrise to sunset over the plains of Africa. Against this setting enjoy herb encrusted Karoo lamb cooked to tender perfection. The South African style chicken curry is popular too.
When: Wednesday, February 14th, from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm.
