AVAST, ME HEARTIE! Woman tired of searching for Mr. Right, weds the ghost of a 3 Century old Pirate

Just when you thought you’ve heard the most awkward of marriages, another pops up. In 2005, Kevin Nadal, then a PHD student in counseling psychology, got married to himself. Two years earlier, Jennifer Hoes exchanged vows with herself on her 30th birthday in a pumped-up ceremony filled with family and friends. In India, over 2000 people joined in the celebration as a Hindu woman got married to a snake. I wouldn’t fault you for being conflicted about what was more weird, getting married to a snake or that the snake got married in absentia. It, represented by a brass embodiment, wasn’t in attendance during the ceremony. It was probably caught up with hunting for a soulmate for its stomach.

But do these beat Amanda Teague’s marriage to Jack Teague? That’s a dog biting a man. You say. Where’s the story? Because, Jack Teague, a pirate, died over three centuries ago, Amanda got married to his ghost. On her account, they live as any other typical couple does, have arguments, do on romantic candle-lit dinners set against the backdrop of beautiful sunsets and even have great coitus that she describes as moments of heavenly euphoria.

Attempts to have meaningful intimate relationships, platonic or otherwise, haven’t been successful. And at 45, Amanda looked to the spirit world to offer her love. And she got it after she experienced his spirit in her, literal. soulmate. She believes that her job description was the platform on which their relationship was actualized. Amanda works as an impersonator to captain Jack Sparrow.

They bonded to higher levels by spending time together, watching T.V. and when she was up and about in her car. “I told him I wasn’t really cool with having casual sex with a spirit and I wanted us to make a proper commitment to each other.” Jack proposed to her two years after they met. She answered with an enthusiastic affirmation. Their wedding was set on a boat in the deep seas. Their union made possible by a Shaman priest, who relayed Jack’s vows to Amanda and had been, until then, been their gateway to communication. She did her nails, hair and makeup; had her long flowing white dress and custom rings to symbolize their union. While she wore hers as everyone else does, Jack’s was placed on a candle.

They are currently co-writing a book to aid women who have opted to search for their better half in the afterlife. “There are a lot of people out there who don’t know about spiritual relationships, but it could be right for them – I want to get the message out there.”

She speaks very fondly of him, “He is my soulmate. I am so happy; it is the perfect kind of relationship for me.” But for him being dark-skinned with dark jet-black hair that matches, she pictures he resembles Captain Jack, played by Jonny Depp, in the hit movie series, Pirates of the Caribbean.

She confirms that sex is very similar to that of a physical human. “It is well known that people often feel a spirit touch their hands, their face or their hair. You can literally feel the physical act of what the spirit is doing to you, and the spirit can feel it too.”
