Summer in Houston is going to be sizzling – so most of the festivals and shows are in air-conditioning for your comfort. June offers plenty of choices from a vegan festival with amazing food to a tranquil visit to the lotus gardens of a Buddhist Temple, the hottest acts in music, classic concerts, ballet, boating, and a Brazilian country party.
A ninety-minute drive out from Houston brings you to Port Arthur, to step into a world of serenity amid the lotus blossom, bamboo, koi ponds and tranquil gardens at the Buu Mon Buddhist Temple. Enjoy authentic Vietnamese food, arts and crafts and buy some lotus, water lilies, and bamboo to plant at home. Do remember to take a camera as the grounds provide great photo opportunities.
When: Saturday and Sunday, June 9 – 10. (Dates unconfirmed as yet – call before starting a trip out there – you can also book private visits to the gardens)
Cost: Free entry
