Sometimes summer camps can be a big financial issue because everybody wants to provide some good time for their kids to have a fun, but can’t manage the family budget for that. Sometimes the cost doesn’t matter, because you can find great programs in NYC for free.

From July 6 till 20 August this nonprofit Community Center run three summer programs for kids. Children ages 11 to 13 can attend The Beacon Middle School Program which is free.

This reader-recommended general interest camp is run by the Neighborhood Improvement Association, which offers a number of FREE camps at public schools throughout Brooklyn. Depending on the age you can choose which camp to send your kids for free. It’s for kid’s ages from 5 to 13. If your girls are into the science, technology, engineering and mathematics than this is perfect camp for them. This amazing camp, only for 8th and 9th grades, has many subject activities and workshops. Only 50 kids are accepted into this highly-competitive and FREE camp. Teacher recommendations and an interview are also required. So if your kids are currently in eighth or ninth grades and go to school in NYC, she’s eligible to apply for this FREE camp at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
College Summer Program in Mathematical Problem Solving
This is a FREE sleep-away math camp for NYC kids. Only seventh-graders who are fascinated with math can spend three weeks in this camp, with instructors, solving math problems and learning new skills. There are other activities like sports, field trips and games. To be eligible for this summer camp, kids must have just completed the seventh grade, live in New York City and go to a public school in which at least 75 percent of students receive free lunch. Free transportation is provided to and from the two program campuses, Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson and Siena College in Loudonville, NY. Dates are July 5 till July 26 2015. This is a 3-week summer math program for 7th graders who like math and are in public schools where 75% of kids receive free lunch. At this camp children will live on college campus in upstate New York and study new and interesting mathematics taught by the best instructors. They will also enjoy games, sports and field trips like hiking and stargazing. To apply kids must complete an application and go thru an interview process. This is a eight-week all day summer science camp for eleventh grade high school girls, where they will attending field trips and classes in robotics, web design, mobile apps and etc. There will be presentations by more than 50 speakers, workshops, demos from female engineers and entrepreneurs. This is a FREE summer camp and only 20 girls will be accepted.
