If you’re not sure where to let your kids fish, or how to get them started if they’ve never fished before, then the Kids Fish program at Bass Pro Shops is the perfect learning opportunity! This event takes place on Saturdays at the pond in front of the store (weather permitting.) Bass Pro Shops supplies all equipment, so all you need to bring is your junior fisherman.

Watch the resident critters enjoy their brunch every Saturday! The arachnids and amphibians enjoy hunting crickets, the lizards like chasing superworms, and the insects appreciate fruits and veggies. Stay afterwards to watch the snakes constrict and swallow rodents! Viewing is free, or you can feed some critters yourself for just a buck per bite. Zoologists of all ages are welcome and no reservations or call-ahead required.

Two sessions of this free program are offered, one for ages 5–8 and one for ages 9–12 where your kids can practice drawing from the Modern’s awesome collection! Each session is led by an artist who takes participants through informal drawing exercises in relation to works in the Modern’s galleries. Local artists Mary Ellen Lacy and Andrea Tosten will lead the program on Sunday, January 7th. Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult during the program, and be sure to bring a sketchbook and pencils.Attendance is limited, so early arrival is encouraged. A sign-up sheet is located at the information desk.

Who doesn’t love coloring? Join the Irving Arts Association for a monthly coloring book party. IAA will provide basic art supplies (pencils, crayons, markers) and pages to color, but feel free to bring your own coloring book and supplies. This event is open for all ages. Parents are requested to stay with kids 8 through 12. A copy machine is available in the office who those who wish to copy certain coloring pages. Snacks may be provided, so families are welcome to bring their own.

He’s in the starling family, so he’s a songbird with quite the vocal cords that just loves performing for an audience. Come talk with Chitter and get to know this boisterous bird!
