Every Saturday at 11am in Brooklyn Historical Society has fun and free family event. Also every first Saturday of month there is free music show with musician Lloyd H. Miller. Take your kids here and explore history or express your creative movement during the dance show. All this programs there are free, but you need to reserve your entry in advance.

On Sundays from 4pm to 6pm you can go to Queens Botanical Garden and smell the flowers and enjoy in the natural. There you can find family story time events which are also for free. In some of the 25 garden you can sit and talk with kids or just do some relaxing yoga.

Madison Square Park is always a great place to spend a day out with your kids. There you can find tons of free and fun activities for kids like music, arts, crafts, storytelling, painting and many games.  No matter if it is spring or fall there is always some gardening workshop where you can find a lot of parents and kids. This place it’s a great opportunity to have a good time and meet new friends.

If you feel tired telling every day story to your kids here is some cool place where they can hear stories from another one. At Scandinavia House every Saturdays there is a free family event, story time with classic tales from Scandinavia and the North, as well as painting class.  Kids will enjoy the folk tales about giants, elves, trolls and other mythical creatures.

If the weather is good you can go to see great artworks at Socrates Sculpture Park. This place is an outdoor museum with a lot of sculptures and multimedia art installations. It’s a great way to bring the art closer to your kids. Also there is a free Art Bus, and great place for a picnic. So make some food, take your kids, and have a nice weekend.
