Wear your festive pajamas, grab your sleeping bag, and get ready to “snore and explore” during the museum’s Winter Wonderland Sleepover. This whimsical overnight will offer exciting animals, science experiments, a screening of Disney’s Frozen, a Fire & Ice show, a dance party plus a winter wonderland-themed photo to take home. Activities include: building a Super Robot, Instant Snow, The Melting Snowman, Create a Snowflake, the Dallas Zoo Winter Show: a 30-minute interactive program that features winter animals from all around the world, a Winter Wonderland Photo Booth where you can strike a pose at the Green Screen Photo Booth with special Winter Wonderland theme backgrounds, a Fire & Ice Show where you can enjoy an explosive and entertaining auditorium show while you have a complementary late night snack, a Frost Bubbles experiment, and finally the Winter Dance Party where you can come limbo and dance with a special prehistoric friend! Kids will make snow out of simple polymers, which is pretty awesome considering the lack of snow around these parts. This stuff feels just like the real thing! This event is free to attend.

Everyone wants to work with clay – especially after watching “Ghost”. No matter experiences in other media, there’s something about the ancient quality of hand touching earth and making it into art! Artist Dee Mayes returns as your guide in our latest Gallery workshop. You’ll learn several types of clay construction to make your choice of a coiled clay vessel or a sculpture of your own design, ideal for inside or the garden. Come join us for a delightful afternoon working in this fun medium and meeting new friends. After being taken to dry and bisque fired, you will pick your piece up at NHG. You may stain your work before you leave the class or leave it plain for painting with acrylics after firing. Admission is $65.00 per person and all supplies are included.
