Join the Gore Place’s 31st Annual Sheepshearing Festival with the whole family. The festival features both traditional manual blade sheep shearing in addition to electric sheep shearing. Afterwards, the sheep fleeces are collected and sold. The merino and Leicester longwool sheep are sheared the traditional way with other sheep brought in for the electric shearing. The fiber tent area offers dozens of fiber artists specializing in wool yarn, roving, knitting kits, and finished wool products. Some even bring animals or special demonstrations. Don’t miss the popular sheepherding demonstrations with border collies on the South Lawn. The crafter area will have 75 booths with artisans selling handmade candles, birdhouses, jewelry, metalwork, pottery, and more! After viewing shearing demonstrations and shopping, join the tour of the mansion, watch the historic re-enactors, listen to live music, take a wagon ride, and more! Tickets will cost $20 for adults and free for children 12 and under.
The 31st Annual Sheepshearing Festival is scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Gore Place, 52 Gore Street, Waltham, MA 02453.
