Audubon Christmas Bird Count

Join tens of thousands of volunteers across the country in shaping conservation and congressional decisions during the longest-running citizen science wildlife survey in the world. The Christmas Bird Count is held every year over the winter holiday season. The data collected by observers during this annual bird count allows researchers, conservation biologists, and interested individuals to study the long-term health and status of bird populations across North America. Led by experienced Audubon birders, participants will follow specified routes through a designated fifteen-mile diameter circle, counting every bird they see or hear all day. Results will then be sent to the National Audubon Society, where they will be compiled and posted online at in January. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact the audubon society. This event is free to attend.

Sunday, January 1st, 2017 from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center, 1206 W. FM 1382, Cedar Hill.

Teddy Bear Sleepover

If you’re anything like us, you have fond memories of having a teddy bear sleepover at some point in your life. This twist on the traditional sleepover involves your child’s favorite stuffed animal, rather than your child though. Bring the little guys over to the library to drop off their animal and to discover what their stuffed animals do after the library closes. They might be surprised at the stories come morning! Trust us, your stuffed animal will have a blast. This event is free to attend.

Friday, December 30th, 2016 at 3:00 pm to Saturday, December 31st, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Lewisville Public Library, 1197 W. Main St, Lewisville.
