A Hudson Christmas is the premier holiday light show in the Denver metro area, with thousands of twinkling lights in majestic trees, visits with Santa (through December 23) and memories for the whole family. Blossoms of Light

This annual holiday lights extravaganza transforms the Denver Botanic Garden’s York Street location into a twinkling winter wonderland. The colors are spectacular as visitors wind through these gorgeous gardens decked out in classic and contemporary light displays. You will not want to miss the incredible interactive LED light display. Warm up with hot cocoa and cider as you meander the gardens with your children taking in this wonderful holiday season. Tickets are $10-$20, and buying tickets in advance is recommended.

The Holiday Carousel

Get into the holiday spirit by taking a ride on Downtown’s 1st & only Holiday Carousel. While shopping for last minute gifts down the 16th street mall, you won’t want to miss this fun ride! Rekindle some childhood magic at Denver Pavilions. $3 per ride or FREE w/ a voucher from any Denver Pavilions merchant. A portion of proceeds goes to Food Bank for the Rockies.

Winter Break

Winter Break at the Denver Art Museum means fun for the whole family! The 3D Studio, Create-n-Takes, and much more are open every day from Friday, December 22nd through Sunday, January 7th, except December 25th. Also, see special performances of the family-friendly play, Art Emergency: Stampede Edition at 11 am weekdays during winter break. All activities, including Art Emergency: Stampede Edition, are included in general admission, which is free for kids 18 and younger.

Zoo Lights

Guests of this popular holiday tradition will experience a light safari with 60 brilliantly-illuminated acres of lights, featuring more than 150 animated animal sculptures that swing through trees, jump across lawns, hide in bushes and appear in places where they’re least expected. It is recommended you reserve your tickets in advance. Tickets cost $12 – $17.

Gingerbread House Events

Come join the tradition! Combine graham crackers, candy, and icing to create a special holiday treat. This workshop lasts one hour and is designed for children and adults to create together. The workshop fee is $10. A regular admission fee of $6 applies to adults who attend but do not create their own house – they should not buy tickets. Reservations are required! Please call the museum for special arrangements regarding Scout troops and other groups of 10-18 children.

The Polar Express in IMAX 3D

The Christmas Mitzvah Project

The Christmas Mitzvah Project has been a tradition in the local Jewish community for over 20 years. On December 25th, volunteers will prepare meals, collect gifts, answer phone calls, facilitate activities, and staff gift shops at local non-profits. No special skills required! The cost of this event is free.

Breakfast with Santa

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be stopping by to enjoy breakfast with you and yours and to jot down everyone’s wish list. Families will enjoy a breakfast buffet. Las Posadas Nativity Reenactment

Celebrated in Mexico and throughout the United States from December 16th to 24th, the Las Posadas celebration commemorates Mary and Joseph’s journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of shelter on the night of baby Jesus’ birth. Tesoro partners with the Christian Life Movement to present this traditional event. Enjoy Mexican hot chocolate, hot cider, and traditional biscochitos. This is an outside event – dress warmly. The Electric Safari

Lights, Animals and Holiday Spirit! Celebrate holiday lights and cheer during Electric Safari with 85 light sculptures on over 50 acres! Warming fires throughout the Zoo offer a reprieve from the chill, as do select indoor animal exhibits that remain open during the event. City and County Building Holiday Lights

Bring your family to City Center to see the beaming holiday lights on Capitol Hill! The largest lighting display in Denver comes on nightly at 6 pm at the City & County Building, where 600,000 lights deck the neo-classical building. The bell tower plays carols nightly as well.

Your family won’t want to miss this! This event is free.
