PARK(ing) Day 2017

An annual worldwide event that inspires city dwellers everywhere to transform metered parking spots into temporary parks for the public good, PARK(ing) Day happens every year on the 3rd Friday in September. These city-wide pop-up mini-parks can be used as performance spaces, reading lounges or just resting places by passersby, and is a lovely way to create your own little sanctuary in the midst of San Francisco’s busy city streets. This event is free to attend.

Schroeder’s 124th Oktoberfest Block Party

San Francisco’s historic German restaurant, Schroeder’s, celebrates the 184th Oktoberfest – the largest beer festival in the world – with a grand Oktoberfest celebration! The celebration kicks off with an over-the-top block party on September 15th, 2017. The party moves indoors for the next five consecutive Saturdays with music from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Hundreds of revelers join for an outdoor Bavarian beer hall featuring benches and communal tables for outdoor dining to set the stage for dancing, brews and traditional German fare alongside Hofbräu activities, including stein holding contests, Polka dancing and the traditional Danish “chicken dance.” Brats, chicken sausage and pretzels will be available through a token system. This event is free to attend.

Filipino Night Market Festival

Inspired by the vibrant night markets of Asia, Undiscovered SF is a free monthly Music, Art, and Food Festival and curated collection of emerging artists and merchants that celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the SOMA Pilipinas district located in the heart of San Francisco’s innovative South Of Market neighborhood. Undiscovered SF will unveil to the world the emerging culture of Filipino-Americans (and beyond) involved in music, dance, visual arts, fashion, design, retail, food, technology, social activism, and health & wellness. This fest is 94,000 plus square feet indoors and outdoors with 15 rooms of music, food, art dance and cool stuff for everyone. This event is free to attend.

Indoor Dog Park Grand Opening

Bring your pups to test out Oakland’s new indoor dog park, while also celebrating the grand opening of Furball Fitness Dog Camp & Daycare! The dogs can run, romp, and rumble in the 2000 square feet warehouse, in addition to an extra 700 square feet of outdoor space. Humans – there will be much fun for you too! A DJ will be spinning, and free beer provided by Furball Fitness. The taco cart will be also be sizzling with food for purchase. This event is free to attend.

2017 Mariachi Festival & Taco Eating Contest

The annual Mariachi Festival features mariachi bands, ballet folkórico dancers, a taco eating contest, and an outdoor market celebrating Mexican food and art at Hayward City Hall Plaza. The Mariachi Festival is fun for the whole family! Don’t forget your lawn chair and blanket! This event is free to attend.
